SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Linda Holmes was sworn in to the Illinois Senate today during the inauguration ceremony beginning the 103rd Session of the General Assembly at the Old State Capitol. She has served as State Senator for the 42nd District since 2006.
“It is such a privilege to have the confidence and trust of the residents of the 42nd District,” said Holmes (D-Aurora). “The past few years have been quite challenging with the public health, unemployment and economic issues the COVID-19 pandemic wrought, but we’ve been able to rebound, regain and surpass our previous economic standing.”
Holmes maintains Illinois is in better fiscal shape today than in years past, resulting in higher credit standing, a paid off bill backlog, investment in the rainy day fund and in the pension system.
Holmes will continue her role in Senate leadership as Assistant Majority Leader, her work improving and expanding health care access, and championing legislation for animal welfare.
“I am eager to meet constituents in parts of the new 42nd District communities including Batavia, Geneva, Saint Charles, Bristol and Yorkville,” Holmes said. “Their input on the issues our district and state faces will guide my actions in the 103rd General Assembly.”
