NORTH AURORA,Ill. – Senate Assistant Majority Leader Linda Holmes and State Rep. Matt Hanson recently visited the construction site of a new water tower in North Aurora, a project they worked to include in the state's 2026 budget to ensure accessible drinking water for residents and businesses.
“Infrastructure funding includes public utilities, and a project like this will ensure our communities have dependable facilities with the capacity to serve our area’s growing population,” said Holmes. “Working for the necessary funds to increase storage and provide reliable access to clean and plentiful water for current and future residents.”
“The construction of this water tower is making clean, reliable drinking water more accessible for all North Aurora residents,” Hanson (D-Montgomery) said. “I’m proud we secured funds for this project and I’m excited to see the final product when construction ends.”
In a recent assessment of the village’s current system, the American Water Works Association found a deficit of more than 400,000 gallons from the recommended volume. Funding for the project included preparing the 1.33-acre site, installing utilities, erecting a 1.25 million gallon spheroid water tank, as well as paving, installing and restoring the site. North Aurora Village President Mark Gaffino hosted Holmes’ and Hanson’s visit.
The water tower is expected to be complete and operational by late 2026.
