AURORA – Assistant Majority Leader Linda Holmes announced that the 42nd Senate District is set to receive over $132.5 million for improvements to local roads and bridges as part of the state’s ongoing multi-year construction plan.

“As our area continues to see significant growth, these investments will help serve our needs and equip our economy for the future,” said Holmes (D-Aurora). “Investing in our communities is essential to helping our economy continue to move forward.”

The largest multi-year program to build and repair infrastructure in state history will invest $50.6 billion over six years, continuing an unprecedented investment in safety, mobility and quality of life made possible by the bipartisan Rebuild Illinois capital program.

IDOT’s new multi-year program is both comprehensive and multimodal, with investments in roads and bridges, aviation, transit, freight and passenger rail, waterways, and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations touching every Illinois county.

As part of IDOT’s latest Multi-Year Plan under Rebuild Illinois, the district Holmes represents will see over a dozen infrastructure projects totaling more than $132.5 million next year.

“Every dollar we put into upgrading our roads and transit systems is a dollar invested in safer, stronger communities,” said Holmes. “Rebuild Illinois is proof that long-term economic growth is possible through infrastructure investments and ensuring future generations have a safer commute.”
