AURORA – To address public concerns about increasing crime in Kane, Kendall and DuPage counties, State Senator Linda Holmes will host an event where members of the community can join her, Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser and DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin for a public safety seminar.

The program is scheduled for Thursday, May 19 at 6 p.m. at Eola Community Center, 555 S. Eola Rd. in Aurora. Attendees will be encouraged to engage with Holmes and her guests.

“I know area residents are troubled about crime in our communities,” said Holmes (D-Aurora). “Attorneys Weis, Mosser and Berlin will be on hand to talk about the nature of crime in our region and how their offices are helping residents address the problem.”

AURORA – Assistant Senate Majority Leader Linda Holmes (D-Aurora) released the following statement after learning of the leaked Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v Wade:

"It’s a sad day when we find the progress we’ve fought so hard to make for women could now be reversed. What more fundamental right could exist in a democracy than the right to make our own decisions about our bodies without interference from the government?

 "Generations of women -- and their daughters and granddaughters -- fought for these rights through most of the 20th century. Their work brought us to a safer standard for reproductive health care for all women. Taking away this hard-earned right will cost lives.

AURORA – In an historic year for our state due to increased revenues, paid down debt, interest savings and a recovering economy, the Fiscal Year 2023 Illinois state budget passed the General Assembly on April 8. This week, the governor signed the measure into law at Chicago State University, accompanied by lawmakers, CSU officials, students and other guests.

AURORA - After growing concerns about the prospect of increasing crime in Kane and Kendall counties, State Senator Linda Holmes (D-Aurora) has organized an event where members of the public can join her, Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain and Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird for a Crime and Safety Seminar.

“I know local residents are troubled about crime in our communities and what they can do to protect their home and families,” Holmes said. “Sheriffs Baird and Hain will be on hand to talk about the nature of crime in our communities and how their departments are looking to community members to help stem the tide.”

“The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office are partners with a variety of community groups to create an ongoing, open dialogue to help us better understand the needs of our community,” Baird said. “We can then develop strategies to address those needs and identify ways to more effectively combat crime.”
